Prince of Peace is excited to welcome special guest Father Jonathan Stephanz to provide an afternoon of reflection this Advent.

Advent- Preparting for the Invasion
The reason for this theme/A little about the talks: One of the English words used to translate the Latin, "Adventus," is "invasion." This word, at first glance, sounds aggressive. However, the more we reflect upon what the season of Advent is about it seems rather fitting. We are entering into a period where we wait for the coming of the Most High. The threefold waiting of the Christian people consists of the first coming, when Jesus Christ took on human flesh and was born of the Blessed Virgin Mary; the second coming when He will return for the Final Judgement; and the third coming in the form of Word and Sacrament on a daily basis. If Jesus Christ is the King - as we proclaim at the end of every liturgical year - and King Herod saw the Christ-child as an absolute threat to his kingly rule, then it is right to recognize His coming as an invasion. The question is: are we prepared for an invasion of this magnitude? Join us to hear reflections on the incredible season of Advent and prepare your hearts for the great invasion of the Lord in your life and in the world around you.

About the speaker:

Father Jonathan Stephanz is the son of parishioners Jeff and Tina Stephanz. He started as the Parochial Vicar of Holy Family Parish in St. Petersburg but is now the Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of Lourdes in Dunedin. Father Jonathan was ordainded in 2016 after growing up in the Brandon/Riverview area.
